TagNet Mobile Physical Inventory

The steps below will outline the process of starting up TagNet Mobile and creating a Physical Inventory session. If this is the very first time you will be using Physical Inventory within your organization review the prerequisites below:

Prerequisites

1.You have installed TagNet Mobile application on your device, if not click here

2.You have a TagNet Server instance installed and configured for Location Management

3.You have RFID tags mapped into TagNet Inventory for the locations you wish to count, if not click here

4.You have setup an IMOVE rule to capture any tags not found during the physical count

With the above prerequisites complete you can then continue with the step-by-step below:

1.Launch TagNet Mobile from the applications menu on your device. This will be the TagNet Icon as shown below.

2.Ensure that your Server and Reader Tests pass and click Continue.

3.If prompted to login, find your Employee record through the search or enter in your badge/password combo and click Continue. If you have used the device before you may be logged on automatically if the Remember Me option was checked.

4.After logging on you should be brought to the TagNet Mobile home screen.

5.Open the Navigation Menu on the top left of the screen.

6.Expand the Modules menu and select Physical Inventory.

7.The Session Location menu will be displayed. This is where you choose a location to count. The screenshot below shows the first time creation of a Physical Inventory session, so no default location has been saved. Once you perform a count, the last location you counted will be saved as the default.

8.Choose a location to count using one of the three methods listed below.

Option #1 - Manually: This is done by selecting locations one level at a time based your location matrix. Tap the Select Location option and then choose which locations/levels you wish to count. Note that your location matrix will be different than the screen shots displayed below.

Option #2 - QR Code: When in the Session Location menu simply pull the trigger on your device or tap the QR code symbol to scan a QR code that is linked with the location you wish to count.

Option #3 - RFID: Click the Scan using RFID button and pull the trigger on your device to scan any location tags then select the location you wish to count.

9.Once your location has been selected using one of the methods above, click the checkmark on the top right of the screen.

10.Confirm that the location selected is the location you wish to count and tap YES.

11.The Session Sync menu will be displayed and TagNet Mobile will connect to the TagNet Server and sync all expected inventory from your selected location to the device. Sync times will vary based on your TagNet Server specs and network connection speeds. Expect about 1.5 minutes per 1,000 tags in your selected location inventory.

12.Once the Session Sync completes, click the Continue button.

13.The Count Summary page will be displayed showing you the total expected inventory for your location.

14.From the Count Summary menu you can simply pull the trigger on the handheld to start scanning RFID tags OR tap the "Read" button on the top right of the display. Note that when using the physical trigger, it will scan for RFID tags when pressed. Tapping the "Read" button on the display will start a continuous read cycle that can be stopped by pressing the stop button.

15.As RFID tags are scanned the counters on the Count Summary page will update to reflect what is being picked up. Notice how there is a message saying Resolving Unexpected Tags. This means that I scanned 30 RFID tags that were not initially expected in this area so the application is reaching out to the TagNet Server to see what those tags are. This may occur for a variety of reasons based on your implementation, but the end result is that these 30 Unexpected tags will be added to the location I'm counting once I commit the session. We can also see that there are 25 Not Found tags. This means that TagNet currently thinks those 25 items should be in this area so I should keep searching for them. If I'm comfortable that these items are not physically in the location I'm counting, they will be removed once I commit the session.

16.To view more actions, open the Navigation Menu on the top left of the display.

17.The Navigation Menu will show you the following options (it is a scrollable list).

❖Detail View: This will open a menu that shows a list of the expected/scanned items and allow you to view details and filter by tag ID, object ID, or status.

❖Count Summary: This will show a summarized chart and table of all the expected/scanned tags for the current session.

❖Commit Session: This menu will allow to complete the session and push all changes to the TagNet Server.

❖Delete Session: This will delete the current session you are working on.

❖RF Attenuation: This will open a sub menu that allows you to increase or decrease the RF power when scanning. For example, a value of 100 may read certain RFID tags from 30' away but may also read items in a different area where you don't want to count. A value of 15 will have a very small read zone, where tags may only be scanned when the handheld/antenna are within a foot or two of the item.

❖Return to Home: This will close the Physical Inventory module and bring you to the TagNet Mobile home page. The session will not be closed or deleted when you do this, it will stay in it's current state until you re-open the Physical Inventory module.

18.Once you are comfortable with the state of your session, open the Navigation Menu and tap on Commit Session.

19.The Commit Session menu will show you a final snapshot of what you've counted. The question mark symbol on the top right of the screen will provide details on what each status category means. Click Submit to finalize the count.

20.The Commit will send data to the server in batches, wait for this process to complete.

21.The session has now been committed which means the inventory changes have been pushed to the TagNet Server. Click the Done button return the Session Location page where you can choose another location to count and return back to the main menu.
